Well this is my first attempt as a serious journal entry. It actually is very interesting (at least to me).

I just came back from Vegas and I've actually noticed something very dumbfounded about Paris in Vegas. Everything is supposed to look authentic ripped from Paris from the Eiffel Tower to french bakeries. I'm fine with that, I love it. But what I realized just how plainly things are named.

Of course everything is named in french and in pretty cursive. But when you translate it into English, you start to realize just how plain things are and it almost feels just how lazy the engineers were of the place. For example the cafe, the burger restaurant, the souvenir shop, the toilets, the buffet, etc.

The only time you ever see "The Cafe" named in actual English is some cafe in the middle of nowhere and made from like the 1970's or so. Also, what perplexed me is there were some shops that were in french and actually named some pretty elegant names. What's the problem? Well they're high end shops and restaurants where prices are really really high. What? We lower spenders get the cheap names? : P


As a side almost related question, I watched the Penn and Teller show :3 One of Penn's jokes was to a volunteer on stage "Is it possible that you're the only one who bought a ticket and everyone else in the audience is a paid member of our crew? Look, that guy over there looks French Canadian!"

I want to know just why exactly do French and French Canadians get so much shit from everyone. The French didn't want to go to war with the US in Iraq, big deal. It's just like saying "Well I don't like dying". Then the US makes up "Freedom Fries". Assholes.
